Comexi Group closes the sale of two FLEXO F2 printing presses to Clondalkin Group (n124/2013)
16/5/2013

• The machines will be installed in the premises of Flexoplast B.V. and Wentus Kunststoff GmbH, companies attached to Clondalkin’s flexible packaging division.
• Satisfaction with Comexi Group machines already installed in Clondalkin’s facilities and their reliability played a key role in the closure of the agreement.
Girona, May 16th 2013.-Comexi Group, a specialist in solutions for the flexible package convertible industry, has reached an agreement for the sale of two F2 flexographic printing presses to Clondalkin Group, an international producer of flexible packaging. In the coming months, the machines will be installed at the latter’s Flexoplast B.V. and Wentus Kunststoff GmbH plants, located in Holland and Germany respectively, part of Clondalkin Group’s Engineered Films Division.
With this purchase, Clondalkin Group is demonstrating its aspiration to expand within the flexible packaging sector and to offer quality solutions at an international level. To achieve this goal it has chosen to confide in the features and performance of Comexi Group’s FLEXO F2 printing presses. A fundamental factor in the closure of the sales agreement was the fact that Clondalkin has already worked with machinery by Comexi Group. Satisfaction with the results and the proven reliability of the machinery led Clondalkin to choose the Catalan manufacturer once again.
The innovative design of Comexi’s FLEXO 2 printing press is the result of perfected ergonomics. By introducing changes to the structure of the press, accessibility to all points that affect operability, functioning and maintenance has been improved. These innovations also reduce the time needed for changing tasks, thus ensuring a more productive machine.
The FLEXO 2 press by Comexi incorporates 10 new patents related to the grids, doctor blade, drying screen, feeder reel, layout and Cingular modules. Since all these aspects are directly concerned with ergonomics and efficiency, the company decided to name it F2 FlexoEfficiency.
This particular press by the Catalan manufacturer has been singled out this year to receive the Red Dot Design Award.

Comexi Group inaugurates its new facade: a 635 m² vertical garden (n123/2013)
11/5/2013

• Present at the inauguration, held on Saturday 11th May, were Mayor of Girona, Carles Puigdemont, and Mayor of Riudellots de la Selva, Montserrat Roura.
• The event was held within the framework of the Girona ‘Temps de Flors’ festival, when the city is decorated with flowers.
Girona (Spain), 14th May 2013.- On Saturday 11th May, the specialist in machinery for the flexible packaging converting industry, Comexi Group, inaugurated its new façade: a 635m2 vertical garden. Mayor of Girona, Carles Puigdemont, and Mayor of Riudellots de la Selva, Montserrat Roura, accompanied Comexi Group’s chairman, Manel Xifra, when the ribbon at the opening ceremony was cut.
The façade’s inauguration was arranged so that it would coincide with Girona’s ‘Temps de Flors’ (Flower Time) festival. Mayor of Girona, Carles Puigdemont, described how pleased he was to be in Riudellots inaugurating the two events: “They are two success stories that were put into practice at around the same time. Both of them are a privilege and source of pride for Girona,” he declared. This opinion was shared by the Mayor of Riudellots de la Selva, who expressed her satisfaction at the company’s growth.
Company chairman, Manel Xifra, expressed his contentment with the new façade, an example of the innovative, sustainable path that the company has been following for several years now: “It is a symbol of our bid to transform the flexible packaging industry, in a move toward improved sustainability.”
The building’s former façade was transformed into a vertical garden in order to exemplify the company’s bid for sustainability and environmental care: two ideologies that underlie its current expansion philosophy and field of research. In this respect, the company is striving to increase the efficiency of its machinery, both technically and mechanically, so that both Comexi Group and its clients can reduce their carbon footprint.
At the same time, it is also researching the development of printing and laminating machines that do not use pollutant solvents like UV inks. The Comexi OFFSET CI8 already operates with EB inks that avoid UV inks’ strong negative impact.
Comexi Group is also ISO 14000 certified in acknowledgement of the efforts it has made to find a balance between maintaining its profit levels and reducing the company’s environmental impact.
The event finished with a get-together for staff and their families, the main protagonists of these changes.

Baran Ambalaj purchases a Comexi PROSLIT EIKON (n121/2013)
8/5/2013

• This is the second slitter-rewinder by Comexi Group to be installed in the Turkish company’s facilities
• Comexi Group redoubles its efforts to penetrate the Turkish market
Girona, May 8th 2013.- Comexi Group, a specialist in solutions for the flexible package convertible industry, has reached an agreement for the sale of a Comexi PROSLIT EIKON to Turkish-based company Baran Ambalaj. The slitter-rewinder is the second machine to be installed by the Catalan company for Baran Ambalaj.
This second sale was motivated by the efficiency and positive results of the first slitter-rewinder that the Turkish company purchased on 2010. According to Bahri Uçar, Head of Maintenance and New Investments at Baran Ambalaj, “The purchase of this second Eikon machine has broadened our potential to work with different materials, ensuring a level of productivity beyond the boundaries of our imaginations. The returns on the two Comexi Group Eikon are exceeding all our expectations.”
Founded in 1977 and covering an area of 15,000 m2, Baran Ambalaj is a flexible packaging and paper supplier that specializes in packaging for food products and bags of all kinds. The Comexi PROSLIT EIKON will be used alongside the first machine to produce flexible packaging.
The Comexi PROSLIT EIKON
The Comexi PROSLIT EIKON is a slitter-rewinder machine that incorporates the latest innovations in the converting industry. This fully electric machine is ideal for working in settings where aseptic conditions are required, since there is no contamination of the workplace by hydraulic oil in compliance with the ISO 14001 standard, and it needs less maintenance than hydraulic systems.
The slitter-rewinder is based on the concept of precision slitting and the application of overspeed through a second motorized nip and gears that allow for overspeed and overtension during the slitting process.
Thanks to its robustness, ergonomics and automotive potential, plus the fact that it can be regulated to carry out any kind of task, the Comexi PROSLIT EIKON is a versatile machine in terms of the materials that it can handle and its adaptability to customer needs.
Comexi Group in Turkey
With the installation of this second machine at Baran Ambalaj and other agreements for 2013 that the company is reaching in Turkey, the potential for Comexi Group to expand its Turkish sales is reaffirmed. This is a market with good prospects for trade.
