Hit attendance of the 18th edition of Hispamerflex
• Over 100 representatives of the sector attended the seminar, organized by Comexi Group, DuPont, Esko and Sun Chemical
• The event served for the organizers to present their latest flexographic innovations
5th June 2013.- There has been high attendance of the 18th edition of Hispamerflex, a regularly held flexographic seminar. Over 100 people, representing companies from the sector, attended the yearly forum organized by Comexi Group, DuPont, Esko and Sun Chemical, whose latest innovations in flexographic printing were presented during the seminar.
Hispamerflex served to highlight how a combination of new technologies and procedures can lead to better printing results, while also boosting a company’s capacity to compete and the added value of its end products.
To illustrate this combination of technologies, delegates were able to see the Comexi FLEXO F2 printing machine in operation. A printing machine that stands out for its ergonomics and efficiency, in combination with Full HD Flexo® technology by Esko, the DuPont Cyrel® DSP cutting-edge digital plate, and Passion XP Plus series ink system by Sun Chemical, it ensures optimum production efficiency.
Because the benefits of round and flat top dots can be obtained with one same plate, with Full HD Flexo® technology by Esko, high-definition highlights and solid ink densities can be achieved that are comparable to gravure. The outcome is a plate that offers dazzling highlights, mid tones, gradients and solids. Similarly, the new Dupont Cyrel® DSP digital plate is ideal for applications where higher solid ink densities and a wide tonal range are needed for packaging segments. DSP has been developed to offer optimum performance with a wide range of substrates and inks.
At a production level, flexographic printing machines need to ensure maximum productivity, printing at high speeds and substantially reducing idle time between jobs. Sun Chemical offers a solution to these market requirements with the Passion XP Plus series: multifunctional flexographic printing inks for printing on both sides of the substrate. Suitable for high-speed printing, they have been developed to work with high-definition plates.
For its part, the F2 flexographic printing machine has been designed to meet the need for medium and long print runs of flexible packaging for retailers and wholesalers alike. It incorporates patented FLEXOEfficiency ergonomics and accessibility, plus the performance and solid robustness of FPLUS. It features state-of-the-art electronic systems so as to ensure top-quality printing, even at high speeds (up to 500m/min), printing on different substrates like plastic film, paper and sheets.
Manel Xifra Boada Technological Centre collaborated in the latest edition of Hispamerflex by hosting the event. This year, the said centre has put into operation a new 2,200m2 laboratory, featuring over ten machines manufactured by Comexi Group. The aim of this industrial laboratory is to conduct tests with clients, carry out projects with partners and, as in the case of Hispamerflex, to act as a venue for events and seminars.
The first edition of Hispamerflex was held over 30 years ago, with the collaboration of three companies: Comexi Group, DuPont and Sun Chemical. In 2000, Esko joined them as a new collaborating partner.
The purpose of this initiative is to organize seminars and conventions for the domestic flexographic sector, where collaborating companies can present their latest innovations to clients from the printing market with a view to networking professionally so as to introduce new improvements to the printing sector.
Comexi Group closes the sale of two FLEXO F2 printing presses to Clondalkin Group (n124/2013)
• The machines will be installed in the premises of Flexoplast B.V. and Wentus Kunststoff GmbH, companies attached to Clondalkin’s flexible packaging division.
• Satisfaction with Comexi Group machines already installed in Clondalkin’s facilities and their reliability played a key role in the closure of the agreement.
Girona, May 16th 2013.-Comexi Group, a specialist in solutions for the flexible package convertible industry, has reached an agreement for the sale of two F2 flexographic printing presses to Clondalkin Group, an international producer of flexible packaging. In the coming months, the machines will be installed at the latter’s Flexoplast B.V. and Wentus Kunststoff GmbH plants, located in Holland and Germany respectively, part of Clondalkin Group’s Engineered Films Division.
With this purchase, Clondalkin Group is demonstrating its aspiration to expand within the flexible packaging sector and to offer quality solutions at an international level. To achieve this goal it has chosen to confide in the features and performance of Comexi Group’s FLEXO F2 printing presses. A fundamental factor in the closure of the sales agreement was the fact that Clondalkin has already worked with machinery by Comexi Group. Satisfaction with the results and the proven reliability of the machinery led Clondalkin to choose the Catalan manufacturer once again.
The innovative design of Comexi’s FLEXO 2 printing press is the result of perfected ergonomics. By introducing changes to the structure of the press, accessibility to all points that affect operability, functioning and maintenance has been improved. These innovations also reduce the time needed for changing tasks, thus ensuring a more productive machine.
The FLEXO 2 press by Comexi incorporates 10 new patents related to the grids, doctor blade, drying screen, feeder reel, layout and Cingular modules. Since all these aspects are directly concerned with ergonomics and efficiency, the company decided to name it F2 FlexoEfficiency.
This particular press by the Catalan manufacturer has been singled out this year to receive the Red Dot Design Award.
Comexi Group inaugurates its new facade: a 635 m² vertical garden (n123/2013)
• Present at the inauguration, held on Saturday 11th May, were Mayor of Girona, Carles Puigdemont, and Mayor of Riudellots de la Selva, Montserrat Roura.
• The event was held within the framework of the Girona ‘Temps de Flors’ festival, when the city is decorated with flowers.
Girona (Spain), 14th May 2013.- On Saturday 11th May, the specialist in machinery for the flexible packaging converting industry, Comexi Group, inaugurated its new façade: a 635m2 vertical garden. Mayor of Girona, Carles Puigdemont, and Mayor of Riudellots de la Selva, Montserrat Roura, accompanied Comexi Group’s chairman, Manel Xifra, when the ribbon at the opening ceremony was cut.
The façade’s inauguration was arranged so that it would coincide with Girona’s ‘Temps de Flors’ (Flower Time) festival. Mayor of Girona, Carles Puigdemont, described how pleased he was to be in Riudellots inaugurating the two events: “They are two success stories that were put into practice at around the same time. Both of them are a privilege and source of pride for Girona,” he declared. This opinion was shared by the Mayor of Riudellots de la Selva, who expressed her satisfaction at the company’s growth.
Company chairman, Manel Xifra, expressed his contentment with the new façade, an example of the innovative, sustainable path that the company has been following for several years now: “It is a symbol of our bid to transform the flexible packaging industry, in a move toward improved sustainability.”
The building’s former façade was transformed into a vertical garden in order to exemplify the company’s bid for sustainability and environmental care: two ideologies that underlie its current expansion philosophy and field of research. In this respect, the company is striving to increase the efficiency of its machinery, both technically and mechanically, so that both Comexi Group and its clients can reduce their carbon footprint.
At the same time, it is also researching the development of printing and laminating machines that do not use pollutant solvents like UV inks. The Comexi OFFSET CI8 already operates with EB inks that avoid UV inks’ strong negative impact.
Comexi Group is also ISO 14000 certified in acknowledgement of the efforts it has made to find a balance between maintaining its profit levels and reducing the company’s environmental impact.
The event finished with a get-together for staff and their families, the main protagonists of these changes.
